At Nature Matters we are passionate about sharing compelling images of wild animals and wild places. The images on our website are all chosen with great scrutiny.
They are processed and sized to bring life to a special photographic moment in time. Our images are individually printed using high quality, archival print techniques and materials to create enduring artwork with a personal touch.

Artist Information
Don Surphlis is a nature photographer and conservationist who looks for every possible opportunity to spend time outdoors. Photography is my excuse to visit incredible natural places, particularly the mountains and prairies of North America and the savannahs of East Africa.
My favourite subjects are the amazing creatures who share our world. Wild animals are complex, intelligent and social creatures much like ourselves. Every encounter is a valuable learning opportunity for me.
Through photographs, I share my experiences and reveal the true character of each subject to the viewer. Photographs are an important medium with the ability to engage the viewer, create curiosity and generate feelings. My prints are an opportunity to share the experience with you on a personal level.
It is critically important that humans understand how our actions impact the ability of wildlife to thrive and survive. Hopefully, the work offered on this site will enhance awareness of the beauty, complexity and importance of the natural environment.
