FAQs

What is a Limited Edition Print?

Our gallery works are created as limited-edition prints. Each print of an edition is numbered and signed by the artist. A certificate of authenticity is also provided with each image explaining more detail about it’s creation. Once an edition is completely sold, no further images are available.

In printmaking, the term 'edition' refers to the total number of prints struck from one plate. Limited edition means that a fixed number of prints or impressions are produced, thus making the print more scarce, valuable and collectable.

How are the prints produced?

All images are produced on professional grade inkjet printers using long-lasting pigment inks for accurate, consistent colour rendering and detail. Pigment ink also offers the best colorfastness and saturation.

Paper selection has a great impact on the quality of a printed photographic image. We use Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm white cotton matt paper, or equal, for all our work.

Hahnemühle Photo Rag® is a recognized all-rounder for high-quality FineArt inkjet printing. The white cotton artist’s paper, with its characteristic, soft feel, boasts a lightly defined felt structure, lending each artwork a three-dimensional appearance and pictorial depth. Combined with a matt premium inkjet coating, this paper produces outstanding prints that feature brilliant colours, deep blacks, striking contrasts and perfect reproduction of detail. This acid- and lignin-free classic meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance.

What is the difference between image size and paper size?

All prints are sized to optimize the visual impact of the composition. Each image has an optimum size to enhance it’s character and viewability. Image size represents the dimensions of the actual image. Each print is produced with a blank border around the image. This “white space” is provided to accommodate framing without the added costs of mat board borders during framing should the client prefer a simpler look. The border can be trimmed as desired if a mat display is preferred.

Can a print be customized?

We are happy to work with customers to create personal commissioned prints but the Limited Editions offered in our gallery cannot be customized. Each print must be identical to all others to honor the spirit of the edition. Please contact the gallery to discuss your special needs or ideas.

Can I order a framed print?

Yes and no. We purposely chose to exclude framing options from our menu. Frame styles, materials, profiles and colours are very much a personal choice which is often dictated by the décor of the space where your print will hang. Offering a robust choice of frame materials is beyond our capability as a boutique photography gallery. Shipping framed products also drives up shipping costs.

If framing is a “must have”, please contact the gallery and we will work with you to find a solution.

How do I care for my photographic print?

Your new photographic print is created using two basic materials. High quality cotton rag paper and ink. To preserve the print in the best condition it must be protected from direct sunlight, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Inkjet prints must always be framed and mounted behind UV protective glass. Use acid-free framing materials such as mat borders, mounting tapes and backing sheets. Take care to hang your print in a location that does not receive direct sunlight.

How is my print packaged?

We take great care to package your new print for damage-free delivery. Your chosen print is sandwiched between two sheets of acid-free paper and rolled on the outside of a rigid cardboard cylinder. The print is then inserted in a cardboard shipping box before leaving our studio.

How is my package shipped?

Each order is shipped with tracking via standard courier service to the purchaser’s address. A signature will be required from the recipient to confirm acceptance of the shipment, therefore we cannot ship to PO boxes.

What if my print arrives damaged?

Each print is inspected and signed by the artist immediately prior to shipping. We ask that you inspect your print within 5 days of arrival and advise us immediately about any damaged items. Take a photo of the packaging as well as the damage on the image and send these to our attention for review.

Damaged products must be re-packaged and returned to Nature Matters before we can process a refund or exchange. Please contact the gallery for further explanation of this process.

Can my purchase be returned?

We do our best to make you as happy as possible with your purchase. In the rare event you aren't fully satisfied with your print we will exchange it for another of equal value. Please contact the gallery within 15 days of delivery. After this time sales are final.

The original print must be returned to the gallery in new condition in the original packaging within 30 days. The cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser. Original packaging materials must be used for return shipping to prevent damage.
